Another perfect day for walking (NOT) on 12 March at Divis. 50 MPH winds and excoriating rain showers. 4.2 miles for those who did the ridge trail and 7.5 miles for those who did the longer loop round the perimeter of the site. What a day - it was great to get back to the car park for lunch!
Some of our pre-Covid walks.
Another perfect day for walking in the Mournes with blue skies and spectacular views from the summit but wind chill and strong winds made for a difficult descent from the col.

Another perfect day for walking …
The wind was blowin' a hoolie
As we set off in the Cooleys
We were glad we wore our woollies
But we didn’t need our jumpers
When we got back safe to Lumpers
And when I got home
I wrote down this poem!

The forecast suggested that Thursday should have been a duvet day but those brave souls who ventured out were rewarded with a good and sometimes dry walk round the lakes. One group extended the walk to take in the cafe at Lough Neagh Discovery Centre where some at least enjoyed a great fry-up and, on the way home, the Kinnego bird hide..

A large group ignored the weather forecast and were rewarded with a day that was much drier than expected letting us enjoy an excellent walk on our traditional route on the first Thursday of the new year.
Distance walked was 5 miles for the shorter loop and 6¼ miles for those who opted to add on the out-and-back walk to Muckamore. A few brave souls added a hill section - climbing the historic motte in the grounds of Antrim Castle.

Happy walkers at Pigeon Rock Mountain and Slievemoughanmore
Another perfect day for our walk on the Newtownabbey Way. The impressive Bleach Green Railway Viaduct, 630ft long, 70ft at its highest, was completed in 1933 to allow trains to run between Belfast York Road Station and Ballymena without having to reverse at Greenisland.
Another perfect day for our walk round Craigavon Lakes and to Lough Neagh.
While most of Cedars Walkers opted for the traditional route, eleven brave souls were taking to the hills where they "enjoyed" wet conditions while climbing Crossone before scrambling over Bloody Bridge River as they crossed to the quarry. What better way to clear your head and start off the New Year? Not with a bang but a squelch!
