It is probably a little easier to approach Rourke's Park from Lurgan via Newcastle although it is about the same distance travelling via Rathfriland, Hilltown and Spelga. Estimated journey time from Jethro for either route is 1 hour and 11 minutes.

Via Newcastle, take the coastal road towards Annalong and Kilkeel. About six miles out of Newcastle, and 3/4 mile before you come to Annalong, turn right on to Quarter Road, immediately past the petrol station on right hand side of the raod. It's signed Silent Valley 5 miles. At the top of Quarter road turn sharp left on to the Head Road and park at large gated entrance to Dunnywater which is on your right, just 300 metres yards along the road.

Via Hilltown, take the B27 towards Kilkeel and drive over the mountains turning right beyond the Spelga Dam, signed Kilkeel and Silent Valley. After about 4 miles turn left on the Head Road (signed Silent Valley 1 mile) and left again, driving past the entrance to Silent Valley. Continue on the Head Road for a further three miles until you arrive at the gates to Dunnywater on your left hand side - it's located 300 metres before the sharp right turn where Head Road becomes Quarter Road. If you get to Quarter Road go back 300 metres!
