North Down Coastal Path - Holywood to Bangor

STOP PRESS: For a big walk go to Bangor where Derek will be the leader. For a shorter start at Holywood or Seapark where Ruth will be the leader.

Our walk on 17th September is on the North Down coastal path. The minibus will be running but you are encouraged to take the train - 09:15am from Portadown or 09:21am from Lurgan or 9:28am at Moira - make sure to leave plenty of time to park your car and check to ensure you won't get an unwanted ticket! At "the other end" either get off at Holywood (10:23am) for a shorter walk or at Bangor (10:43am) for a through walk to Holywood of about 9 miles - the choice is yours - if you get a ticket to Bangor, you can decide on the train. On arrival, head towards Crawfordsburn where we will all meet up for lunch. After lunch "short walkers" can head back towards Holywood and hop on a train at Helen's Bay or elsewhere. Directions to Seapark Recreation Ground

The recreation grounds are approximately one mile east of Holywood Railway station on the North Down Coastal Path.

Coming from Belfast by road, drive past Holywood railway station and town centre on the dual carriageway / Holywood by-pass, past the raised railway embankment on your left running parallel to the road. Shortly thereafter the road rises, passes some houses on your left and Seapark Road is the first road on your left, just after two sets of traffic lights; last time I looked it had a post box on the corner in front of tall brick garden walls. Drive under railway arch, past playing fields on your right and take the first road on your right (still Seapark Road), parking on your left, near shore. Or you can type in BT18 0LP on your Sat Nav!

There are public toilets opposite the car park.
