Approaching Armagh from the Portadown direction (other directions are available) take the first exit at the second roundabout on the outskirts of the city, just before the Planetarium, turning left (signed Newry and Dublin) into Drumadd Road, which sweeps right into Victoria Street before passing between the Mall and the Gaol. Continue on to the traffic lights where the road branches left (A28 to Markethill and Newry) and right (Friary Road) - turn right into Friary road and shortly after the City Hotel (on your left) you will come to the gates of the Palace (former archbishop's palace and now council offices and "seat" of the Lord Mayor). Drive through the gates past the ruins of Armagh's Franciscan Friary and on up towards the palace (about 500 metres) - the car park and playground are on your right.
