Cedars Walkers on Ballyhornan Coastal Path

Leaving the Jethro Centre, take the Moira Road (A3) out of Lurgan and after less than a mile turn right on to the Dromore Road (B2). Drive to Dromore and follow the main road through Dromore turning left on to Princes Street (Belfast Road) at the end of the Market Square. Then after 229 metres turn right on to Mossvale Road (B2) and follow this road for approximately 10 miles into Ballynahinch. At the roundabout turn right (second exit) on to Church Street / Newcastle Road (A24).

If you approach Ballynahinch from Lisburn direction then follow the one way system through the town and signs for Downpatrick (B2) till you get to the roundabout at Church Street / Dromore Street and the take first exit signed Newcastle A24.

1,230 metres after the roundabout turn left on to the Downpatrick Road (B2 again) and after a further 6.8 miles, at "T" junction, turn right on to the Belfast to Downpatrick Road (A7) and follow this for 1.7 miles to Downpatrick.

At the roundabout as you enter Downpatrick turn right (second exit) onto New Bridge Street, continuing straight on into Church Street, Irish Street, Stream Street and Killough Road before taking left onto the Ardglass Road (B1) signed to Bishops Court and Downshire Hospital.

Drive on past St Mary's High School on your right. After 579 metres you will pass the right turn to B1 and Ardglass. But ignore this and continue to follow the signs to Ballyhornan and Bishops Court - helpfully you will now be on the Ballyhornan Road which after 4½ miles becomes Lismore Road.

Two miles further you will reach a T junction on the Strangford Road/A2 - turn left here and then, almost immediately, right on to the Killard Road, signed Ballyhornan. Follow this road until you arrive at Ballyhornan car park on your right as the sea comes into view.
