Knockmany Forest and Chambered Cairn
Bluebells at Knockmany
Knockmany is famed for its bluebell walk in spring – at its summit is Anya's grave which has characteristic passage tomb art, including circles, spirals and zigzags, one of the best examples of this art in the north of Ireland.
Assuming you are coming via the M1 - at the crossroads/roundabout in the middle of Augher (after passing the Spar Supermarket and just before the railway station café) turn right on to Main Street signed Omagh (B83) which becomes Knockmany Road after 150m (at the Saint Marks Church). Follow Knockmany Road for a little under two miles until you come to the Ballymagowan Road/Claremore Road crossroads with its brown Knockmany Chambered Cairn sign. Turn right on to Claremore Road, immediately right into Knockmany Forest and continue on the forest road for 300m to the car park and toilets.
Meeting in Augher? Travel west via the M1 towards Enniskillen. In Augher, passing the Spar supermarket on your left, turn right at the roundabout just before the former railway station (now Augher Station café) on to Main Street signed Omagh (B83) and Knockmany Chambered Cairn. Park (temporarily) in front of Saint Marks Church 112 metres down this road, double back for toilets (beside aforementioned café) and await instructions for next leg of journey.
