Slieveloughshannagh and Doan

Herbie led a group of Cedars Walkers up the Ott Track, over Slieveloughshannagh and on to Doan. Another perfect day for walking, apart from the downpour!

Kilbroney Bar-B-Q

Great walk lead by Ruth . Drop off, Yellow Water, walking down to Rostrevor where gardens were much admired and roses sniffed, on to Fairy Glen and Kilbroney Forest Park for the annual barbecue. Many thanks to Jim Warnock, ably assisted by Marie who got the barbies going. Perfect weather, perfect company and then on to Hilltown for coffee. Perfect day.

Spellack and Meelmore

Spellack and Meelmore

Although the walk from Meelmore Lodge to Spellack and Slieve Meelmore took us up into the clouds we were rewarded along the way with a perfect view of the partial solar eclipse through light could cover and enjoyed a great walk to the summit of Meelmore where we enjoyed lunch in the shelter of the wall.

Hen and Rocky

Hen and Rocky

03 June started off cloudy and blustery as John and Herbie set off with their 10 faithful followers for Hen and Cock Mountain. Nearing the summit of Hen, high winds and low cloud caused a rethink and we returned to Hen Track, crossing the Rocky River before climbing Rocky (405m); it was a tough climb on the lower slopes because of the long grass but on the lee side of the summit we found a sheltered spot where we enjoyed lunch before returning to Hen Track via the Ulster Way - 8.75Km and 460m total ascent - a great walk and just a little more than had been promised.

Commedagh

Commedagh

John O. led his squad on a long trek from Donard Park along the southern flank of Tollymore, up Luke's Mountain and Slievenaglogh on their way to the summit of Commedagh. At least 12Km and 750m ascent.
