Another perfect day

Keep safe, keep well, keep walking.

Another perfect day for a coastal walk at Murlough, Northern Ireland's premier butterfly hotspot; it is the national stronghold for the marsh fritillary - highly threatened and protected european species - caterpillars feed on the devils bit scabious. Our visit was perfectly timed - butterflies were out in abundance.

Boyne Valley Camino
It was another perfect day for an epic adventure from Drogheda to Mellifont Abbey along the Boyne Valley Camino.

A little damp at times for the twenty-seven, even some hailstones, but the odd blink of sun made for a memorable Loughgall wander through the woods with the wild garlic in full bloom.

Whitehead
We had a great walk from Whitehead railway station to the lighthouse at Blackhead on a path designed and built by Berkeley Deane Wise, the innovative civil engineer responsible for the Gobbins cliff path a little further to the north. Almost as dramatic as the Gobbins in places, the path also boasts a great variety of wild flowers and some friendly birds.

Poor visibility in the mountains resulted in change of plan and a visit to Tollymore rather than doin' Doan.

Loughgall
April showers may have arrived a month late but it didn't stop Cedars Walkers from having a great day out in Loughgall Country Park where there was a magnificent display of Allium Ursinum AKA wild garlic.
Cycle on the Greenway
10 cyclists enjoyed a 43Km ride from Westport to Achill Sound.

Lettermaghera Loop
Another perfect day for a perfectly paced walk round the Lettermaghera Loop starting from the Derradda Community Centre. 8.2Km and 75m ascent.
Achill Cycle
Greenway
10 intrepid cyclists celebrate completion of their 43Km cycle from Westport to Achill Sound. We enjoyed luch indoors when the heavy rain arrived. The easiest bit was the bus back!
Turlough Park
We stopped off at the national Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park on our way to Westport and enjoyed a short walk along the greenway. The wild garlic at Turlough Park made a display almost equal in beauty to the bluebells at Knockmany.
