Spring is in the air. Sweet violet and lesser celandine in flower, chiff chaff and black cap arrived from Africa for nesting. As always, our group of chatty Cedar’s walkers enjoyed the varied route through forest and Lough side, ably lead by Reuben (who loves his apple tart). A great dander and coffee all contributed to another perfect day. Many thanks Reuben.
Binnian Lough
Another perfect day for a climb to Binnan Lough from Carrick Little.
Black Mountain

Another great day out in the hills above Belfast.
Celebrating the Spring Equinox on Black Mountain.
Ott Track
Where did they all go?
Chimney Rock Mountain
Cedars Walkers pause briefly beside the Mourne Wall at Long Seefin after crossing Spence's River and nearly not getting lost in almost zero visibility on Chimney Rock Mountain which was hidden in low cloud.
Lukes Mountain
Homeward bound. Heading back to Trassey car park after a great day out in the hills.
Skewered
Hapless walk leader skewered as he attempts to get up from a seat which was lower than he had expected.
Pigeon and beyond
Pigeon to Cock
27 March 2025
It was only Gary, Gerry and Roy on a 5.87 mile hike from Deers Meadow to Pigeon, Slieve Moughanmore, Wee Moughanmore and Cock, but three is all you need for a great day out.

Herbie and the baker's dozen
Another perfect day for walk led by Herbie and Shirley from Carrick Little up to Binnian Lough.
Black Mountain
Divis and Black Mountain
20 March 2025
Another perfect day for a walk on the Ridge Trail up to the summit of Black Mountain and, for a few hardy souls, a climb to the top of Divis rounded off a great walk.
Meelmore
Another perfect day for a hill walk to Ott Mountain, Meelbeg and Meelmore, returning via Ott Track. And perfect visibility to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Mourne Mountains.
Broadwater
Nothing could have been more enjoyable than taking time out to appreciate the scenery along the picturesque Broadwater Canal as well as enjoying wall to wall sunshine and a perfect blue sky. Twentyfour Cedars Walkers clocked up five miles during their Thursday walk from Soldierstown to Aghalee and back . It was, as always, a perfect day for walking - and chatting.
Roosley
Another great walk from Yellow Water car park to Roosley, led by Shirley. A great choice of route for a perfect day out.
Lukes Mountain
Another perfect day for hill walking - cold and windy with low cloud - just the day for taking the Trassey Track and on up to Lukes Mountain. A great day out in the Mournes. The smiling faces tell it all.
