Another perfect day - May 2021

It was another perfect day for walking on 27 May 2021 with sunshine, warm temperatures and refreshing breezes all day. Fifteen Cedars Walkers set off from Bloody Bridge car park for the 10Km trek up to the summit of Chimney Rock Mountain and back. With the surprise appearance of Ronnie B at lunchtime (just before 1.00pm - Paddy's Rule) we enjoyed an episode of the Two Ronnies at the summit.

And enjoyed spectacular panoramic views on the way up.

Castlewellan

Lovely walk at Castlewellan Forest Park - warm in the sunshine but bitter wind out of it. Group enjoyed seeing the masses of bluebells and Elizabeth was kept busy checking out names of wild flowers in the forest. Amazing variety of trees from around the world and numerous varieties of Rhodendron in full bloom made for an interesting walk lead By Ruben and Ruth (and Rosie, the Labrador). Clare Glen

Clare Glen

Despite the dire projections for strong winds and heavy rain on 20 May, 15 brave souls turned up at the west end of Clare Glen for a most enjoyable walk along the glen in the shelter of the trees. A good time was had by all, our waterproof clothing did its job and most of the walkers retired to Sintons at Scarva after the walk for coffee, scones and good craic under shelter. So it turned out to be another perfect day for walking after all.
